At Finbar, our design decisions are influenced by the amount of waste being produced not only during construction but also for the lifetime of the development.
Which is why our Civic Heart project, currently under construction in South Perth, has sustainability at its core from construction to completion.
By using concrete replacement technology called Bubbledeck, which uses recycled plastic balls within the concrete slabs, we reduce not only the amount of concrete used by approximately 35% but also the number of concrete truck deliveries and amount of foundation load required.
Our rubbish compaction units at the bottom of rubbish chutes located on each floor significantly reduce landfill by achieving compaction rates of at least 50 per cent.
Civic Heart is designed to achieve “Australian Excellence” in water and energy efficiency with a centralised hot water system which is at least 65% more efficient than individual electric storage hot water systemsas well as a solar photovoltaic system to provide renewable power to common areas.
In every apartment, double glazing to external apartment windows will ensure excellent thermal properties, reducing occupants’ need for excessive heating and cooling, while smart electrical meters will allow occupants to monitor their power consumption in real time.
Energy consumption in shared lobby areas and carpark levels will be reduced by motion sensors.
Close to amenities and public transport options, apartment living is synonymous with reduced transport costs, commutes and CO2 emissions; encouraging people to walk, cycle or use public transport – transport options which are not as feasible for most suburban households.
Maximizing this, Civic Heart’s bike and car share services will cater for residents’ recreational needs while aiding in the reduction of vehicle use and ownership, while electric vehicle charging bays will accommodate and encourage the use of environmentally friendly electric vehicles.
